Property Tax Extension

Bergenfield Will Extend Property Tax Grace Period Until June 1 to Assist Homeowners During COVID-19 Pandemic

BERGENFIELD, N.J. -- The Borough of Bergenfield will extend its property tax payment grace period until June 1 to assist homeowners who have been financially impacted by COVID-19. This measure, which will be formally adopted at Tuesday’s Council meeting, is being taken to provide financial relief to Bergenfield residents without putting a strain on essential emergency services and it coincides with an Executive Order signed by Governor Phil Murphy earlier this week.

“As we continue to do our part to lessen the spread of COVID-19 in Bergenfield, it is equally important to be mindful of the devastating financial impacts presented by this global health crisis,” said Mayor Arvin Amatorio. “We are providing homeowners with the opportunity to make delayed property tax payments to ensure all of our residents meet the needs of their families.”

Bergenfield residents are encouraged to make any property tax payments online. Additional information about Bergenfield’s response to the pandemic and emergency information is updated on the Borough’s website daily.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has presented many of us with challenges beyond what anyone had ever anticipated and the Mayor and Council will continue to identify ways to assist our residents,” said Councilwoman Ora Kornbluth, Chair of the Finance Committee. “These are truly unprecedented and difficult times, but with the support of one another, we will get through this together.”
