NJ TRANSIT announces alternate service plans for possible rail stoppage - March 3, 2016

NJ TRANSIT service advisoryCommuters advised to expect unusual congestion and delays on all travel modes

NJ TRANSIT Rail Operations faces the prospect of a systemwide shutdown should the membership of its rail union opt to participate in a work stoppage. This would result in the complete suspension of NJ TRANSIT rail service, affecting more than 160,000 customers who ride the system on a typical weekday. In the event of such a stoppage, NJ TRANSIT has developed a contingency plan that would accommodate up to about 38 percent, or about 40,000 seats, of the existing New York-bound customer base.

Bergenfield Museum schools exhibit begins on March 1, 2016

The Bergenfield Museum is offering a new exhibit highlighting the 125th anniversary of the Bergenfield public school system starting on March first. The show contains many photos of student groups going back to the students in the original, one room schoolhouse in 1891. The exhibit traces the growth of the schools and the student population from the first 25 students to the modern multi school system. Mannequins in period dress represent the early pupils and their teacher. All are welcome to visit the Bergenfield Museum at 100 Cooper Street in Bergenfield facing Cooper’s Pond. The Museum is open on Tuesday and Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m.

All Bergenfield Residents are welcome to attend who have an interest in beatifying Bergenfield. The Club is active in community service and we offer gardening education sessions for members as well. This organization of plan lovers has been established in town for over 90 years. Our members are dedicated to learning about the best practices on home gardening as well as beautifying public spaces.

The club gas proven very helpful to new homeowners and the newly retired. The sharing of expert advice from long term members is always free. It is a great resource for those inexperienced in propagating and growing plants and vegetables for the home.  The love of community and plant ecology has been successful for generations in Bergenfield through this club. Come see if this organization is one you can grow with while meeting likeminded residents in town!

General meetings are held at 7:30pm in the Coopers Pond Building located at the park entrance on W. Church Street.

Please be advsied, the County Clerk's office will be open extended hours for those who wish to Vote by Mail.  You may visit the Clerk's office located at One Bergen County Plaza in Hackensack on Sunday, October 31st from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Sunday, November 1st from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Water Supply Drought Watch issued for three New Jersey regions; residents asked to voluntarily conserve water

NJ DEP logoSeptember 23, 2015 - Department of Environmental Protection Commissioner Bob Martin today issued a drought watch for New Jersey’s Northeast, Central, and Coastal North water supply regions, urging residents in the affected areas to voluntarily conserve water and for the rest of the state to practice wise water use due to continued dry weather and above-average temperatures.
