The start time of the Mayor and Council Work Session meeting scheduled for Tuesday, September 1, 2015 in the Municipal Building, located at 198 N. Washington Avenue, Bergenfield, NJ 07621 was amended via Resolution #15-264 to commence at 7:00 p.m., in the Council Chambers.

Annual Shred Day - Saturday, August 22, 2015

The Borough of Bergenfield, in partnership with the Bergen County Utilities Authority and Nexcut Shredding will host a confidential document shredding program for Bergenfield residents on Saturday, August 22nd, 2015 bewteen the hours of 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM in the rear parking lot of Borough Hall located at 198 N. Washington Avenue. The event will be held rain or shine. Borough residents will be provided with opportunity to safely and securely dispose of their confidential and personal documents. This mobile document-shredding service, provided by Nexcut Shredding, and paid for by the BCUA, will not only provide an effective tool against identity theft, it will help Bergenfield "Go Green". Confidential and personal documents will be handled and recycled in a secure manner, thereby preventing the possibility of identity theft. Borough residents will have the opportunity to observe their documents being shredded on-site. Acceptable documents are limited to confidential and sensitive materials only. It is not necessary to remove paper clips, staples, or paperboard binder covers. In an effort to accomodate all those wishing to participate, residents are asked to limit their documents to four (4) bags/boxes weighing no more than 10lbs each. All non-confidental papers (hardcover books, magazines, newspapers, photographs, and x-rays etc.) should be recycled through the Borough's regular recycling program and will not be accepted at this event. If you have been storing personal and confidential documents because of the fear of being the victim of identity theft, Saturday, August 22, 2015, between 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM is the day to safely and securely dispose of them.

New Members Sought for Bergenfield Garden Club

The Bergenfield Garden Club is a grass roots community group looking for new members. The organization of plant lovers has been established in town for the past 90 years and will be celebrating that milestone in the fall. The members are dedicated to learning about the best practices on home gardening and beautifying public space in town. Club activities include:* expert speakers on vegetable and flower gardening* plant propagation* community flower plantings* field trips* seed and plant sharing

This has proven very helpful to new homeowners as well as the newly retired. The club is seeking new project ideas and welcomes the input from new members. The sharing of expert advice from long-term members is always free and a great resource for those inexperienced in propagating and growing plants and vegetables for the home. The love of community and plant ecology has been successful for generations in Bergenfield though this club. Come see if this organization is one you can grow with while meeting like community residents.

The Mayor and Council Work Session schedueld for Tuesday, July 7, 2015 in the Executive Chambers in the Municipal Building, located at 198 N. Washington Avenue, Bergenfield, NJ 07621 will commence at 7:30 p.m.

Council will open the meeting at 7:30 p.m. to enter into Closed Session to conduct an exit interview with the Police Chief.  No formal action will be taken.

The Work Session will resume at 8:00 p.m.
