Local food drive for individuals and families in need

There will be a Food Drive on Sunday, October 11, from 11:00 am to 3:00 p.m., to aid local individuals and families in need. The drive is sponsored through a partnership between the Bergenfield Community Center Building Fund (BCCBF) and the new AAMCO of Bergenfield, and will take place at 233 S. Washington Avenue.

Donations will be accepted at the event, and can also be dropped off prior to the event. Supplies collected will be distributed to individuals and families in need in Bergenfield. Items needed are: powdered or canned milk; rice; pasta – plain and canned; cereal – hot and cold; canned food including vegetables, fruit, soups, meats and fish; peanut butter and jelly; coffee, tea and cocoa; macaroni and cheese; pancake mix and syrup; paper  products, soaps, detergents, toothpaste; baby items – diapers, wipes, baby foods. Please note that no glass, outdated or opened items can be accepted.

Representatives of the BCCBF will be at the Grand Opening to answer questions about the community center, and to collect the donations. The BCCBF is a 501(c)3 not for profit organization. Funds raised by BCCBF activities are for the construction of a community center to benefit the residents of Bergenfield. Information about upcoming events, including the 12th Annual 5K Run/Walk, is at www.bergenfieldcommunitycenter.org.

BCCBF meetings are held at the Memorial Park Field House at 8:00 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month. All residents and business owners are invited to attend. The committee welcomes input and volunteers to assist in programming and fundraising.
