INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY IN MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT – BOROUGH’S CLERK’S OFFICE
In an effort to introduce young adults to government vocations, the Borough of Bergenfield has established an internship program. The municipal internship program offers college students with a minimum completion of 60 college credits an opportunity to gain valuable work experience in a government office environment.   Interns will be responsible for assisting the Administration office with reception duties, assisting in programing Borough wide events, processing local permit applications, records management, and the preparation of public meeting packets and election materials.  Interns will have an opportunity to work cooperatively with government officials, department heads, volunteers and members of the public. 
The Borough is seeking students with coursework in Political Science, Public Administration, or other related fields of study.  Furthermore, students should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong computer skills, be self-motivated and dependable.

The Borough of Bergenfield is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the full-time position of Confidential Aide in the Borough Clerk’s office.  The position will report to the Borough Clerk and will be responsible for assisting and facilitating in the day-to-day operations of the office.  Responsibilities will include but will not be limited to greeting incoming visitors, scheduling appointments and events, processing permit applications, assisting in the administration of elections, preparing correspondence, maintaining files and other related duties.  The position requires someone who is punctual, detailed-oriented, well-organized, and able to multi-task. Proficiency in Word/Excel and various social media platforms is a must. The preferred candidate will have a strong commitment to confidentiality.  The candidate will also have strong communication skills and the ability to interact well with the public.  Ability to interface with borough staff, the public, and public officials is imperative.  The ideal candidate shall have an educational background in Public Administration, Political Science, or other related fields of study, and/or have public sector work experience. The Borough of Bergenfield, Bergen County, New Jersey, has multiple openings for part-time Senior Citizen Bus Drivers.
