MUSEUM SOCIETY  
  • Bergenfield Museum--located at 100 Cooper St--at the North end of Cooper Pond.
  • The Museum displays many artifacts portraying the history of Bergenfield --from the early 1800's to present day. 
  • See and touch "old " furniture including original Cooper Chairs, view vintage  photos, play with dolls and  toys, read and see  military info on Camp Merritt, purchase  literature in our museum shop  and more .All available for your viewing and enjoyment. Never an admission fee . 
  •  Look-up the history of your street and the "old' neighborhood . relive your shopping experiences in the town's stores like the Florence Shop and Woolworth 5 and 10. Walk the grounds and visualize living in the 19th century and stroll around Cooper Pond for a nice leisurely walk . And all of this is free.

OVERNIGHT PARKING  
  • NOT permitted on the streets and roads in Bergenfield from 2AM to 6AM except on Howard Drive and Georgian Court.
  • Please advise the Police Department of any overnight emergency parking.

  • In addition to the endless amount of books available, there are lectures, films, children's story hours, summer reading clubs, crafts, videos, compact discs, audio cassettes, copier machines, art exhibits, and a reference and information department.
  • ESL program available.
 

 


RECREATION SUMMER PROGRAM  
  • Starts usually the end of June and continues to mid-August.
  • Variety activities including field trips to the bowling alley,
    skating rink, zoo, shore, etc.
  • Tennis lessons are available
  • Sign-up at the park in June.

RENTAL REGISTRATIONS  
  • Required annually for all non-owner occupied single family and multi-family dwellings, and rental rooms
  • Inspections are required annually and whenever there is a change in occupancy.

REVERSE 911  
  • Notifies the residents of important notices or emergencies within the Borough and surrounding communities.

SENIOR CITIZEN PROGRAMS  
  • Planned by the Mayor's Advisory Committee for Senior Citizens.
  • Plans a monthly event available to all Bergenfield Seniors.
  • Announcements of time and place to sign up are in the Twin Boro News. 
 

 


SNOW SHOVELING, SNOW BLOWING OR PLOWING  
  • From sidewalks or driveways into the streets is prohibited.
  • Vehicles are prohibited from parking on any roadway when the road is snow covered.
  • According to Ordinance 1046: Sec. 3-6.1 "The owner or tenant of lands abutting or bordering on paved sidewalks of the streets, avenues and public places shall remove all snow and ice from the same within 24 hours after the snow and ice shall have ceased to fall or form."

SUMMER CAMP  
  • Child care program for working parents during the summer months.

VOLUNTEERS  
  • Always needed from the community for the Volunteer Fire Companies and the Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
  • All fire department activities in the Borough are performed by volunteers, with the exception of the work of the six paid daytime firemen.
  • Residents, who are at least 18 years of age and who are physically able to perform the tasks, are eligible to make application.
