Quadrant 1 (Northeast) Bulk Pickup Wednesday, January 11th, 2023

There is a bulk pick-up in Quadrant 1 (Northeast) on Wednesday, January 11th, 2023.

Bulk garbage pickup is on schedule for all quadrants as listed on the 2023 Garbage & Recycling Pickup schedule calendars. Please reference your 2023 pickup schedule calendar to the bulk (B) pick up day in your quadrant. 2023 garbage & recycling calendar may be found by clicking HERE.

 

As a reminder, please note:

- Bulk pickup is for residential purposes only. 

-The DPW does NOT pick up contractor debris, concrete, bricks, asphalt, rocks, mortar, stone, cultured stone or any stone-like materials, wet paint, chemicals, tires, fluorescent lightbulbs, vehicle batteries, rechargeable batteries, propane/fuel tanks, fire extinguishers, TV's, computer monitors, computer towers/computer CPU's, laptops, tablets, printers or fax machines. 

-The limit per bulk day is 4 pieces of household furniture, 2 household appliances (ex. air conditioning (AC) unit), oven, washer, dryer, refrigerator (DOOR MUST BE OFF), and 1 carpet or rug the does not exceed 12 feet in length and/or 1 foot in diameter (including the pad) or a mixture of fragments from carpet or rug of said size. The DPW will not collect carpets removed professionally.

- Water heaters must have borough-issued inspection sticker on them, or they will not be picked up. Please call the Building Department to schedule an inspection, 201-387-4055, option 4.

-Bulk may not be placed at the curb any earlier than 6:00pm the night before scheduled bulk pick-up days. Bulk must be ready no later than 6:00am on the scheduled day of the bulk pick-up.

-There is a bulk pick-up on scheduled bulk pick-up days only. There are no special pick-ups. Please reference your 2023 pickup schedule calendar for the bulk (B) pickup day in your quadrant by clicking HERE.

-Please take the following items to a BCUA collection event: wet paint, chemicals, tires fluorescent lightbulbs, vehicle batteries, rechargeable batteries, propane/fuel tanks, fire extinguishers, and electronics. Dates have not been released for 2023 BCUA Household Hazardous Waste Collection Events and BCUA 2023 Tire Recycling/ Electronics Recycling/ Mobile Paper Shredding/ Unwanted Medication Collection Events. The website will be updated once the dates are released.

- The DPW does NOT collect brick, mortar, stone, concrete, cultured stone, or any stone-like material: the homeowner must dispose of these privately. All bulk refuse generated by a private contractor (contractor debris), or trade waste generated by any business, shall be removed at their own expense and risk. 

-The following electronics ONLY are accepted at the Bergenfield DPW building: TV's, computer monitors, computer towers/ computer CPU's, laptops, tablets, printers and fax machines. The Bergenfield DPW is located at 198 N. Washington Ave, Bergenfield. Office hours are Mon-Fri 7:30am-3:00pm. The electronic drop off is closed on weekends and holidays. 

-PAINT must be dried solid and put out at the curb on bulk (B) pickup days ONLY with the lid off. Wet paint must be taken by the resident to a BCUA Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event. Dates have not been released for 2023 BCUA Household Hazardous Waste Collection Events and BCUA 2023 Tire Recycling/ Electronics Recycling/ Mobile Paper Shredding/ Unwanted Medication Collection Events. The website will be updated once the dated are released. 

-Vegetative waste (grass, leaves, shrubs, branches, yard waste) is NOT collected on bulk days. Please reference your 2023 pickup schedule calendar for the vegetative waste (V) pick up day in your quadrant.

Friday (12/9/22)- Daily Leaf Collection Update

Friday (12/8/22) the DPW leaf crews worked:

West side of the Borough from Thames Blvd to Windsor Rd and finished the East side of the Borough.

 

Monday (12/12/22), the DPW leaf crews will be working at: 

Between Prospect and Washington Ave, working from New Bridge Road moving North.

Vac-hauls will be working to clean up the mains.

 

*Please remove cars from the streets that they DPW leaf crews are working on so they can clear the leaf piles.

**Reminder: last day for leaf pickup is December 10th. 

Wednesday (12/7/22)- Daily Leaf Collection Update

Wednesday (12/7/22) the DPW leaf crews worked:

West side of the Borough from Armour Pl to West Main St.

East Side of the Borough from New Jersey Ave to part of E. Johnson Ave.

 

Thursday (12/8/22), the DPW leaf crews will be working at: 

West side from West Main St to West Clinton and Somers Ave.

East side finishing E. Johnson Ave to toward E Main Street.

Thursday (12/8/22)- Daily Leaf Collection Update

Thursday (12/8/22) the DPW leaf crews worked in the following areas:

West side of the Borough from W. Main St to New Bridge Road.

East side of the Borough from East Johnson Ave to West Clinton Ave.

 

Friday (12/9/22), the DPW leaf crews will be continuing:

West side from Thames Blvd area to Windsor Road, then heading North.

East side from West Clinton Ave towards East Broad St.
