BERGENFIELD, NJ -- The Borough of Bergenfield raised the Armenian flag in honor of the lives lost during the Armenian genocide of 1915-1917. During the genocide roughly one million Armenian were killed. The flag was raised on Saturday, April 24 and remained up until Monday morning.
“Our Borough raises the flags of many different communities throughout the year as a celebration of our diversity,” said Mayor Amatorio. “By raising the Armenian flag we are vowing never to forget the horrible genocide that occured 106 years ago so that we will never repeat such an attrocity.”
