Free Drive Thru Flu Shot Clinic for Bergenfield Residents

The Bergenfield Health Department is offering a free seasonal flu vaccination for residents over the age of 19 on Wednesday, October 7 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Memorial Park Pavilion. 

This year, the CDC is advising all adults to receive a flu shot as a COVID-19 vaccination continues to be researched. The flu shot administered by the Borough is a Quadrivalent, no preservation vaccine that protects against the four most common strands of the flu expected this coming winter. 

Residents interested in participating are asked to complete the below consent form.

Businesses Encouraged to Apply for Bergen County CARES Acts Grant

The County of Bergen, under the leadership of County Executive Jim Tedesco and the Board of Chosen Freeholders, is now accepting applications from local businesses to receive grant funding from the federal CARES Act. The Bergen County CARES Small Business Grant Program is an economic stability measure designed to provide financial relief to small businesses negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and to increase overall business confidence during recovery.

This one time grant opportunity can be used by businesses to pay their rent, mortgage or utility bills for March, April and May 2020. The application process, which can be accessed at https://bergencountycares.org/live/?ver=6, is currently open for restaurants, food service establishments, essential retailers and small businesses. All applications must be submitted by October 5 at 5:00 p.m. 

For your application to be complete, you will need to upload in digital format the following items:

  • Business bank statements March - June 2020
  • (If Renting) Canceled rent checks or signed statement from landlord for January &
  • February 2020
  • (If Renting) Copy of signed lease
  • (If Building Owner) Mortgage Statements for January & February
  • Business registration certification or certificate of incorporation
  • Most recent federal and state tax returns
  • Water, Sewer, Gas and Electric utility bills from March-May of 2020
  • IRS W-9 FORM

Disabled American Veterans Hosting Lunchtime Fundraiser Through October

The Disabled American Veterans Northern Valley Chapter 32 will be hosting a lunch time fundraiser everyday Wednesday through Saturday through November 1 to help recover lost revenue from the COVID-19 pandemic. 

From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the organization will be serving hamburgers, hot dogs in the parking lot of 8 Veterans Plaza. All of the food will be cooked and served in accordance with the state’s food and safety standards. Attendees will not be permitted inside the building and lunch will be served in a “grab and go” style. 

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the DAV has been unable to rent out their hall or solicit donations to help the organization operate. All of the funds will be used to help regenerate the DAV’s reserve fund, which has now been nearly deleted.

VOTER REGISTRATION DEADLINE FOR GENERAL ELECTION

Hackensack, NJ, August 27, 2020 - Bergen County Superintendent of Elections Patricia DiCostanzo issued a notice that Tuesday, October 13, 2020 is the last day for residents to register to vote for the November 3, 2020 Presidential General Election in the State of New Jersey. In order to be eligible to vote, a person must be an American Citizen, be 18 years old on or before November 3, 2020, and be a resident of New Jersey and Bergen County.

Bergen County residents may register to vote at the Office of the Superintendent of Elections, located at One Bergen County Plaza, Room 380, in Hackensack. In order to meet the needs of residents, this office will be open from 9:00AM to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, October 13, 2020. People may also register at their local municipal clerk’s office, hours vary.

In light of the coronavirus pandemic and Executive Order No. 177, ALL REGISTERED VOTERS WILL AUTOMATICALLY RECEIVE A VOTE-BY-MAIL BALLOT for the November 3, 2020 General Election. You may return your postage paid ballot via USPS or bring to one of 18 secured Vote by Mail Drop Boxes located throughout the County. You may contact the Board of Elections at 201-336-6230 or the Board of Elections website to locate a Drop Box near you.  

If you have a disability and need an accessible ballot, please contact (201) 336-7020 or you may go to your assigned polling place, which will provide access to an in-person accessible voting device on General Election Day. Should you choose not to vote on a Mail-In Ballot and show up to one of the limited number of Polling Places on Election Day, in you town only Provisional Paper Ballots will be available to cast your vote. The ADA compliant Voting Machine is only for voters who have a disability.

Superintendent DiCostanzo would like voters, already registered in Bergen County, to be aware of the procedures regarding late address changes within county. If a voter has moved from one election district to another in the SAME town or has moved to another town in Bergen before November 3, 2020, please notify this office as soon as possible so that a Mail-In Ballot can be sent to you at your current address. The Bergen County Superintendent of Elections’ office is responsible for Voter Registration and all associated concerns, Issuing Voter Acknowledgement Cards, Maintaining Custody of Voting Machines and Poll Books, as well as other duties relating to the enforcement of elections laws as per NJSA Title 19.

On Tuesday, November 3rd, voters will cast ballots for President of the United States, US Senate, Congress, Freeholders, and local candidates. It is up to each and every American Citizen to exercise their right to vote.

Bergenfield Will Host 9/11 Ceremony at 7:00 p.m.

The Borough of Bergenfield will host a service at the Bergenfield Alert Firehouse beginning at 7:00 p.m. to remember and honor all those who lost their lives during the 9/11 terror attacks. Anyone interested in attending must wear a mask and strict social distancing guidelines will be in place.
