Bergenfield Department of Public Works Heroes Recognized for Retrieving Misplaced DAV Package

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Bergenfield Department of Public Works Heroes Recognized for Retrieving Misplaced DAV Package

BERGENFIELD, NJ – 2/21/24

In a commendable display of dedication and vigilance, Bergenfield Department of Public Works (DPW) workers Lawrence Tonia and Francis Gomez recently uncovered a crucial FedEx package destined for the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Bergenfield Chapter 32. The package, containing specialized license plates, registration, and title for the new DAV van, had mistakenly found its way into the trash, depriving the DAV of its rightful delivery.

Tonia and Gomez, while diligently carrying out their duties, recognized the significance of the documents and promptly acted by bringing the package to the attention of the Bergenfield Police Department. The Police Department, in turn, acted swiftly to alert the DAV and ensure the safe return of the essential documents.

Commander Wil Shelby of DAV Chapter 32 expressed his gratitude, stating, "We deeply appreciate the extra effort you both invested in rectifying this situation, demonstrating your commitment to ensuring the safe return of these important documents." He further commended the DPW workers, stating, "Your prompt and thoughtful response stands as a testament to the exceptional service provided as employees of the Bergenfield DPW."

The Disabled American Veterans Chapter also extended their recognition to the Bergenfield Police Department and the Borough for their continued collaboration and commitment to service. Mayor Arvin Amatorio applauded the exemplary actions of the Borough employees, stating, "I am extremely proud of the employees of the Borough; they represent the best of all of us." He added, "You are judged by your actions when no one is watching."

The Bergenfield Department of Public Works (DPW) consistently goes above and beyond the call of duty to serve and support the local community. It is employees like Lawrence Tonia and Francis Gomez and their dedication and tireless efforts extend beyond the routine tasks associated with maintaining public infrastructure. Whether it's responding promptly to emergency situations, organizing community events, or implementing innovative solutions to enhance the quality of life for residents, the Bergenfield DPW exemplifies a commitment to excellence. Their proactive approach and willingness to tackle challenges head-on demonstrate a genuine concern for the well-being of the community, earning them the trust and appreciation of the residents they serve. In every endeavor, the Bergenfield DPW sets a commendable standard for public service and community engagement.
