Bergen County Offering Free COVID-19 Testing Throughout December

Bergen County, in partnership with Bergen New Bridge Medical Center, is expanding COVID-19 testing efforts by launching a new drive-thru program at Bergen Community College located at 400 Paramus Rd, Paramus, N.J.

The program will offer antigen nasal swab rapid COVID-19 tests that provide results in 24 hours or less on the following days below for the month of December:

  • Thursday, December 3
  • Saturday, December 5
  • Monday, December 7
  • Wednesday, December 9
  • Thursday, December 10
  • Monday, December 14
  • Wednesday, December 16
  • Thursday, December 17
  • Saturday, December 19
  • Monday, December 21
  • Tuesday, December 22
  • Wednesday, December 23
  • Monday, December 28
  • Tuesday, December 29
  • Wednesday, December 30

All testing will be done between 9:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. with the exception of Saturday, with testing concluding at 2 p.m. 

Testing is available to all county residents free of charge, regardless of health insurance status. Residents must schedule their test through an online portal which can be reached at www.BergenCOVIDTesting.com. Please note residents must bring their mobile device for check-in.  Identification is necessary so please bring ANY ONE OF THE FOLLOWING: your driver’s license/ID card, social security card, passport, or birth certificate. Proof of Bergen County residency or proof of employment that you work for one of the 70 municipalities or are employed by a Bergen County public school is required so please bring your driver’s license, utility bill, employee work ID or paystub. If you have health insurance, please bring your with you as well.

Wednesday (11/25/20) - Daily Leaf Collection Update

Today (11/25/20), the DPW leaf collection crews collected leaf piles on the west side of the Borough from Hallberg Avenue southward to Glenwood Drive South, excluding Westview Drive. On the east side, the crews collected leaf piles on Clinton Park Drive, Carlson Place, Clyde Court, and Lincoln Avenue.

On Monday (11/30/20), the DPW leaf collection crews will collect leaf piles on the west side of the Borough on Westview Drive, and also from Surrey Lane southward. On the east side, the crews will collect leaf piles on Haven Avenue, Lunn Avenue, and side streets in between, working southward.

Bergenfield Holiday Schedule

Borough Hall will close tomorrow, Wednesday, November 25 at 1:00 p.m. ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday. Borough Hall will resume normal business hours on Monday, November 30. Due to the Holiday, Garbage operations are still scheduled for pickup on Friday (Quadrant 2 & 4) & Saturday (Quandrant 1&3). . Please check with your calendar for the most up to date collection information. 

Additionally, street side pick up of leaf collection will end on Friday, December 4th. We ask that you assist the Borough by having your leaves curbside prior to this date. Thank you and have a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

Tuesday (11/24/20) - Daily Leaf Collection Update

Today (11/24/20), the DPW leaf collection crews collected leaf piles on the west side of the Borough from Levitt Avenue southward to Spring Avenue. On the east side, the crews collected leaf piles from E. Main Street southward to E. Clinton Avenue, except for Clinton Park Drive. On the east side, the crews also collected leaf piles on Porter Avenue.

Tomorrow (11/25/20), the DPW leaf collection crews will collect leaf piles on the west side of the Borough from Hallberg Avenue southward. On the east side, the crews will collect leaf piles on Clinton Park Drive, Haven Avenue, Lincoln Avenue, and Lunn Avenue.

Bergenfield Food Pantry Closed Thursday, November 26

Please be advised the Bergenfield food pantry will be closed on Thursday, November 26 in observance of Thanksgiving. The food pantry will  resume normal operating hours on Monday, November 30.

Monday (11/23/20) - Daily Leaf Collection Update

Today (11/23/20), the DPW leaf collection crews collected leaf piles on the west side of the Borough from south of Main Street, between New Milford border and Prospect Avenue, up to W. Clinton Avenue. On the east side, the crews collected leaf piles from the Deerfield Street and Bradley Avenue area, including Bogert Place, Cedar Street, Willow Street, and Davis Drive.

Tomorrow (11/24/20), the DPW leaf collection crews will collect leaf piles on the west side of the Borough south of W. Clinton Avenue. On the east side, the crews will collect leaf piles south of Grove Street.

Friday (11/20/20) - Daily Leaf Collection Update

Today (11/20/20), the DPW leaf collection crews collected leaf piles on the west side of the Borough on Jones Place and all side streets between Graphic Boulevard and W. Main Street. On the east side, the crews collected leaf piles on Johnson Avenue, Church Street and side streets, as well as on Taylor Street and First Street.

On Monday (11/23/20), the DPW leaf collection crews will collect leaf piles on the west side of the Borough south of Main Street between New Milford border and Prospect Avenue. On the east side, the crews will collect leaf piles on Deerfield Street and on Bradley Avenue southward.

Thanksgiving Day 11/26/20 & Day After 11/27/20: DPW Garbage & Recycling Holiday Pickup Schedule

Please review your 2020 garbage & recycling pickup schedule calendar for changes in the pickup schedule during the week of 11/23/20-11/27/20. The Borough Hall Offices and the DPW are closed Thursday 11/26/20 & Friday 11/27/20 in observance of the Thanksgiving Day holiday and the day after Thanksgiving. Changes in pickup schedule are highlighted in yellow on the garbage & recycling pickup schedule calendar.

IMPORTANT: There is a garbage pickup on Friday 11/27/20 for Quadrant 2 and for Quadrant 4, and there is a garbage pickup on Saturday 11/28/20 for Quadrant 1 and for Quadrant 3, in order to allow for 2 garbage pickups in each quadrant for the week of 11/23-11/27/20, as the Borough is closed Thursday 11/26/20 & Friday 11/27/20. Garbage pickup days are marked with the green letter "G" on the pickup schedule calendar. Please review the pickup schedule calendar (front, page 1) and the garbage & recycling guidelines (back, page 2).

All garbage & recycling carts must be placed at the curb before 6:00am the day of pickup, but not sooner than 6:00pm the night before pickup.

Leaf season collection: 12/4/20 is the last day that residents may put their leaves out in piles at the curb. The Recycling Center at 198 N. Washington Ave, behind the DPW building, is open regular hours (closed on holidays): Mon-Fri 8:00am-3:00pm, Sat 9:00am-1:00pm, Sun 1:00pm-4:00pm. Today (11/19/20), the DPW leaf collection crews collected leaf piles on the west side of the Borough on W. Main Street, and also west of Woods Avenue, as well as north of Graphic Boulevard, and on Prospect Avenue from Armour Place southward to New Bridge Road. On the east side, the crews collected leaf piles on Hickory Avenue, part of Johnson Avenue to Martin Street, as well as side streets.

Tomorrow (11/20/20), the DPW leaf collection crews will collect leaf piles on the west side of the Borough south of Graphic Boulevard towards Bergenfield High School. On the east side, the crews will collect leaf piles on Johnson Avenue southward.
